Dining Room Window Treatments for Style and Privacy
Once the lights come on at dinner, bare dining room windows let anyone outside see right in, and during the day, the same windows can throw glare across the table. Good dining room window treatments handle the glare and the privacy, and you can pick ones that make the room look as formal or as relaxed as you like. Perfect Fit Window Fashions & Design has sold and installed window treatments since 2000, and these are the options we show most often in dining rooms.

Custom Drapery as a Dining Room Window Treatment
Our drapery is sewn by a local workroom from fabrics by Stout, Fabricut, and Kravet, and it hangs on custom-order hardware from brands like Kirsch, Brimar, and Paris Texas. Stationary side panels frame each side of the window, while working panels draw closed across the glass for privacy at dinner.
A cornice or valance across the top of the window covers the shade underneath. We design these top treatments in your drapery fabric or in a coordinating one.
Dining Room Shades for Daytime Privacy
Silhouette® Sheer Shades have soft fabric vanes held between two sheer panels. Even with the vanes open, the white rear sheer blurs the view into your dining room during the day, and tilting the vanes closed gives you full privacy at night. They also filter up to 88% of the sun’s UV rays.
Vignette® Roman Shades come in sheer, light-filtering, and room-darkening fabrics, including silks and linens. With Top-Down/Bottom-Up, you can lower the top of the shade for daylight while the bottom covers the lower half of the window, where people walking by would look in.
Dining Room Window Blinds and Shutters
Wood blinds and Heritance® Wood Shutters let you tilt the slats or louvers to cut glare on the table at lunch, then close them flat for privacy at dinner. Shutters stay on the window as a fixed part of the room, and blinds raise out of the way when you want the whole view.
Dining Room Window Treatment Ideas That Work Together
These dining room window treatment ideas pair well in one window:
- Stationary side panels over Silhouette® Sheer Shades, so the drapery frames the window and the shade handles light and privacy.
- A Vignette® Roman Shade under a valance made from a coordinating fabric.
- Heritance® Wood Shutters with side panels on each side for a formal dining room.
- Wood blinds under a fabric-covered cornice that hides the top of the blind.
- PowerView® Automation on your shades, so they close on a schedule before dinner each evening.
We bring fabric and finish samples to your home so you can see each pairing next to your table, chairs, and walls.
